iPhone 3.0 Podcast Sync Issues

By harold on in iPhone. Permalink.

I believe I am having a Podcast problem. Positions in the heard audio are not remembered when syncing. Also the sync does not remove the podcast from the phone. It in fact continues to mark it as a new download in both iTunes and the iPhone.

Which I guess makes sense if it doesn’t know the last heard position from the phone at all.

I’ve seen this bug before, earlier then 2.2.1 I think. It was not in any of the OS 3.0 beta builds. I am now running a 3GS with a restore/backup carried from my 3G.

Hopefully it will be fixed soon. I’ve tried different ways to reset the sync without luck. I’d be interested to know if anyone else is having similar issues? Some searching of Twitter and Google reveals some hints that I am not an isolated case.

As a possibly related aside I have also noticed that if I delete an app from the phone, it continues to exists in iTunes. When I download the app again and sync, the app is removed from the phone.

Checking the app manually in the Applications tab works around that one.

  • About Me

In the 1980′s I discovered computing and began tenaciously typing in BASIC programs from the back of magazines.
After nearly thirty years a computer has rarely been out of my reach. The focus of my work has been in software programming evolving from QuickBasic through VisualBasic, C++, and in the 1990′s as the Internet exploded into the mainstream I began a career working with HTML, CSS, PHP & Javascript. Along the way I graduated from college, worked within the government for a decade and assimilated a wide array of knowledge and experience.

While I work primarily as a web developer my continuing interest in problem solving keeps me current in many areas of computer and consumer technology. If you have a problem with a computer, device or just want to learn more; it is assured that I can help you find the answers and solutions you seek. It'a a great thing for me to help people get beyond their technical trouble.
