Westview Leaf Farm

Today we reached 20 full bags for the season on the Westview Leaf Farm.

As you can see by the pictured trees there is still a bumper crop clinging to 4 of our 9 ~~massifs~~ big trees yet to blanket the ground, several times.

We’ve been putting the bags out on the curb each week and look forward to the big cheques to start rolling in.

Today is purported to be somewhat unique in the invention of time. Today our calendars will read 10/10/10 which when written in binary 101010 is 42. Which of course is the answer to "the meaning of life, the universe, and everything" – HHGTG. Which of course is a line of fiction but sometimes the glow in life shines from the cracks in between what's real and what's imagined. Next up 11/11/11 (63) and 12/12/12.

Today is also most importantly a Thanksgiving Sunday in Canada. Well wishes to everyone and their families.

About the Biking

I've gone and set a goal of riding; my just bought for me, birthday bike, five hundred kilometers, this month.

And I thought up this grand plan and got started March 13th about two hours after Phil from Full Cycle dropped it off. I did 7km that night and since another 126km. It's still a long long way to the finish but I think I can get it done. I don't usually go all committed to things but this has me in it's grip. The fact that we are leaving for a week in Cuba April 2nd is also excellent motivation. Though it's not been that hard for me to keep going for it. There is great joy in the actual riding. I circled the block returning home the other night after a tough two hours for the sheer pleasure of coasting in the dark.

When I got started late last summer i posted each ride route as I completed them. I don't think I will do that this time unless requested. I had planned to create a landing page for them but conveniently Runkeeper.com just unveiled a way for me to share routes. It will show a live map and moving dot should you visit when I am actually out on the quest.

I am seriously considering experimenting with filming a first person perspective for fun next week.

Google Buzz

It’s not evil. They should have anticipated people not wanting in all cases to expose their email address. That was not smart. But that has been fixed.

Twitter is fading to eventually be one of many ways to send out messages, share, comment, Facebook is the AOL silo of our time and Google Buzz is an open source platform with a billion dollar backing.

I like it.

In the end we will win as users regardless of our choice in preferred tool. They and hundreds of other companies are innovating communication and internet use cases at a frenetic pace because we demand it.

The rate of change and inovation is continuing to pick up momentum. We can already tie networks together through open protocols in order to share as much or as little as we choose. Using diverse company logins to connect to one application or site is becoming the norm not the exception. And we are using it all in greater numbers each day.

And still companies big and small in software and hardware are racing to make our total information awareness possible, easier and more powerful. Google Buzz is another large step along the path to an interconnected communications web operating in real time.

Changing Everything

If you’re one of the few who stop by this site you will have noticed over the last few days a major shift in the design. While a fairly simple template change on the surface there is a fairly important change to note on the front page of haroldfudge.com.

The blog posts are no longer the central focus.

Replacing the front page post(s), which could sit unchanged for extended periods, there is now an embedded feed from Friendfeed which pulls together all my daily activity around the Internet in real-time. Twitter, YouTube, Flickr and services beyond will show up here automatically as they are aggregated.

Long form blog posts are still here and will show up in the feed and the left Recent Posts menu but no longer will the same stale post darken the front page for weeks on end. Social media has changed what it is to blog and I’ve wanted my personal domain to be a central point of activity for sometime. I’ve gotten a little bit closer to that with this latest revision and I hope that you’ll enjoy keeping updated and intouch.

Back Online, Full Speed Ahead (Kinda)

The domain transfer finally came through! As of right now I think that everything is back in place and I can really start to focus on the next phase of the plan. I need to complete a few sites over the next weeks and have ideas for others that I hope I can get going as well.

But for now a great night out last night means being a little blurry today and doing thinking work just seems too hard.

Moving Servers

I’ve decided that the time has come to finally move off this cheapo server and settle in somewhere a bit better. I’ve started the moving process and it will take several days to complete. Hopefully with no downtime noticed. This move includes acervus.ca, hxf148.com, haroldfudge.com, aridin.com, kcraider.ca, station17.ca, anneandharold.com, facility17.com and voyagesofenterprise.com

For the curious I decided to go with hostmoster.com for service this time and picked up a new domain in facility17.com. What’s going on here is that I now have a fairly clear plan and some timeÂ to setup and arrange my domains that they are productive, manageable and also importantly, fun.

I’ll write when things are all settled in.

Anne was in Montreal this weekend so I had extra time to work on how I really want things to look around here. And I am pretty happy with how it’s turned out. It’s a flexible template and getting better as I rewire its guts. Let me know what you think in the comments maybe?

I also had time to repurpose hxf148.com as a simple portal index for all my sites as they come online (over the next several weeks). This breaks some good incoming links out there but I think it’s better this way as I try to sort out my domain rearrangement and how Google indexes it.

After a long hiatus as a simple redirect for hxf148.com, which is now acervus.ca.. haroldfudge.com is back online as a personal blog. I know, lots of urls. It’s worse then that actually with another six sites to come online in the next couple of months.

What’s great is that I got a lot further with setup here today then I thought and will try to round it out tomorrow.

haroldfudge.com is about me, Harold Fudge (Jr). And is my very own in a long series of tube clogging sites about nothing, nonsense and other noteworthy notes. And as an aside to all of that. I want the this domain to return as it was before and be a perpetual jumping off for my projects, photos, porfolios and postings of all other kinds.
